British pub patron saves dumped kitten who’d spent days scavenging from garbage, but vets confirm this fur baby comes with babies inside, rescuer says: ‘She’s in my spare room living her best life and waiting to give birth, which was not in the plan.’

For those unfamiliar with the Great British pub it is a place for enjoying the limited British sun alongside your favorite canine pal. Which makes this story of a dumped kitten all the more intriguing that it took place in a pub. On what should have been rather hostile land for the feline in question.

But that is part and parcel for many of the stories that fill the pages of Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit. For one reason or another the CDS does not use simple methods of delivery. Instead opting to place cats in walls, under cars, high up in trees or in this case in and amongst the patrons, pups and bins of a pub. Thankfully though, this cat was wise enough to understand how hoomans and hounds work and bobbed and weaved her way around the pub in search of food to keep her going. That is until our hooman protagonist spotted her scrounging around the floor and could not bear to see her living in such squalor. Instead opting to take her home and see if she can help the cat get home or rehomed.

But within the first few moments of making it home, it became abundantly clear that this cat was not just a cat but a pregnant cat. And before this hooman knew what was coming for her, she had a home full to the brim with three adult cats and a fresh litter of five kittens. A cat-aclysmic event like this happens but once in a lifetime (hopefully) and this cat momma and her husband did everything in their power to ensure the healing, safety and needs of all their cat children were fulfilled. Serving as a reminder to all of us that when we see an animal in need there is little to no excuse to not try to help. It does not have to be for life, but you could change their life entirely if you step up in the moment.

Well, this is certainly an interesting encounter. Many stray cats would not have dared approach a pub so humming with people and dogs. But perhaps because this catto was dumped and used to have a home, she was comfortable enough around hoomans to seek help. Sure, she might not have been as direct as some of her feline contemporaries who would have leapt at a hooman of their choosing and never let go. But she did step forward, make herself known and tried her best to get some sustenance from the hooman left overs. All in all quite the well mannered cat child.

It never quite seems to end in the feline pawrenting world. Just when you think that your home is full to the brim with cat children you’ve pulled from the streets, and just as you think you have cured all their various ailments procured from their time on the streets, then a new cat comes along with babies in tow just to add a little intrigue to your already complicated situation. But this seems to happen much more often than you might imagine. Perhaps a reflection of the Cat Distribution System targeting hoomans who’ve had cats from it in the past.
